Keyboard Shortcuts

Omni Designer provides numerous keyboard shortcuts to help you build and manage your report templates more efficiently. The shortcuts are active whenever you are focused on the designer interface.

Global Actions

These shortcuts apply no matter where you are clicked inside the designer.

Tip

Ctrl + S works even when you are typing in a text field, so you never need to click away before saving.

Clipboard

Standard clipboard operations are supported for elements. If multiple elements are selected, the action applies to the entire multi-selection block.

Text Formatting

When a table cell is selected, you can toggle text styles from the keyboard:

Layer Control

Elements physically stack on top of each other. Use these shortcuts to manipulate the Z-index of the primary selected element.

Canvas & Movement

When your focus is on the canvas (and you are not actively typing in a text field):

Action	Shortcut
Delete Component	Delete or Backspace
Cancel / Deselect	Escape
Exit Section Edit Mode	Escape
Move Selection (1px)	Arrow Keys (Up, Down, Left, Right)
Move Selection (10px)	Shift + Arrow Keys

Note

Escape behavior is contextual. When inside a Section Edit Mode, the first Escape exits the section. When a table cell is selected, Escape deselects the cell. When elements are multi-selected, Escape clears the selection.

Alignment

When multiple elements are selected, you can quickly align them using keyboard shortcuts.
